is probably the best read I have had for a very long time.
It´s written in a typical English witty style, but with extra class! It´s authentic, honest and an inspiration for those with a hungry mind and adventurous soul, eager to discover the world. His circumnavigation trip around the world at the young age of 23 is already impressive as such, but for admires of a good read, this book is an absolute gem! Each page is filled with another story so gracefully written combined with philosophy and the funniest humour… that it´s hard to put it down.
For the unexperienced with boats, vessels or life on the ocean it´s without doubt an easy book to read. Every time Tom uses boat terminology he adds a short subtle explanation, so you can follow effortlessly and at the meantime learn something new! Those who were lucky enough to make some experiences themselves and can relate more, will be thrilled by his tales.
Thanks to my friend Christl, I was lucky to meet Tom in person while being on his Kayak trip from Bristol to the black sea in July 2025. You could fall for his bright blue eyes… his strong, young athletic body or… as it happened to me for his outstanding personality. He´s such a considerate, pure soul, who´s expressing himself in the exact same impressive way he writes. It was an honour to spend some hours with him and Christl while exchanging travel stories over a nice, simple meal.
And the best news… Tom´s adventurous spirit hasn´t ended yet! He´s still following his passion of discovering places, taking on challenges and letting us taken part in it all, by writing those marvellous books about his endeavours. Check out his website: https://tsdymond.com/
