Tea ceremony and coaching
Being a coach myself, I have met many colleagues over the years: mental health coaches, fitness coaches, sport coaches and life coaches. But until today I had never heard of a tea coach!
I met Mabol through Couchsurfing. She couldn’t host me, she invited me to experience a traditional tea ceremony in her home. Needless to say, I happily excepted.
So here I am – sitting in her beautiful tea room, learning about the many different teas, the unique qualities and health benefits of each one, and how you can choose a tea that matches your current mood, the weather or even the season.
I begin with a lovely raw Pu-erh tea, I learn how the first infusion is discarded, how much tea to use and how the same leaves can be steeped several times. Afterwards I try a fermented version.
Slowly my palate begins to develop. I start noticing the subtle differences between the teas and learn how to distinguish varying levels of bitterness and sweetness.
Mabol – Tea Coach
Mabol, is a bright, intelligent woman with an infectious passion for Chinese tea. She has been studying tea for more than two decades and has dedicated herself to sharing it’s rich culture with others.
She teaches both online as in person, and regularly takes her students on journeys across China to visit tea plantations, and learn directly where the tea is grown and produced.
Her English is excellent, making her classes accessible and engaging for international students.
In November she will travel to Europe, where she will organise special tea ceremonies that combine tea with music in Vienna creating a deeper sensory experience. In France she will compare tea and wines!
So interesting!
I never expected a simple invitation for tea to become such an inspiring cultural experience. It reminded me, that tea is far more than a drink – it is history, craftsmanship, mindfulness, and a wonderful way to connect with people.
